CentOS takes a long time to print but Windows works fine

Post by supmethods » 2022/09/19 09:11:11

I have a printer that prints fine from the Windows machine. When jobs are sent from the CentOS machine, it takes around 20 minutes to print the job. The CentOS machine prints fine to other printer but takes a very long time for this single printer.

Printer has been power cycled and CUPS has been been restarted. I have tried printing different invoices from the invoicing system but it takes a long time still. I have issued the command lp -d <PrinterName> test_print.txt to see if plain text takes long and it also takes a long time. I have tried removing the printer and re-adding the printer (it's an LPD printer). I have tried JetDirect also, and the result is the same.

I will try rebooting the server next. If that fails, I'll try updating the printer firmware. Is there any other suggestion on what I can do to fix this issue or other troubleshooting steps I can take?
