Black screen with blinking marker top-left-corner

Post by wuyang » 2022/08/28 02:38:19

Hello All,

Scenario:
I have an IBM physical machine server whose operating system is Windows Server 2008 R2.Now I want to install CentOS 7 on this machine via U disk as startup disk. When I complete the installation process, reboot the system, and then output the boot failed: Windows boot manager information on the screen. Finally, the system stays in an interface with the cursor flashing in the upper left corner of the screen. It should be specially pointed out that when I press F1 to enter the BIOS, the [W.3138002] boot configuration error IBM error code will appear at the bottom of the BIOS interface.

I have tried the following operations:
1. When the cursor at the upper left corner of the screen is moving after the reboot, I pressed Ctrl + Alt + (F1, F2, F3, F4), but there is no effect.
2. I adjusted the boot sequence of various devices, but it didn't work.
3. Next Monday I will try to load the default settings and reboot it.

Question:
How to enter CentOS 7 login interface?

What is "U disk"?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

See my SIG for the link to our wiki. Many tools for creating a USB stick from our iso image corrupt it during the "copy". Use dd or something known to work without corruption.
