Re: yum fails with Error: Protected multilib versions: package.i686 != package.x86_64
I had the same issue on my CentOS 7 installation, which was running in Microsoft Azure Indeed. So it seems Microsoft, which defaults to this mirror on installation (at least at some point in time they did).
Re: yum fails with Error: Protected multilib versions: package.i686 != package.x86_64
It was pointed out to me that olcentgbl.trafficmanager.net sits on an ip address that whois says belongs to Microsoft so this would appear to be their own internal mirror for Azure hosts. If anyone has contacts within Azure then perhaps they might try to use them to tell them that it's out of date.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Our Centos systems are also running on stock Azure Centos 7 VM images. Thanks for the responses, I've created an Azure support request to see if it can be fixed. If I get no joy then with Microsoft support then I'll try one of the other mirrors as recommended.

Greetings!
I am the primary maintainer of the Azure CentOS mirrors. This issue (and this forum thread) was brought to my attention this morning.
It seems there is a bug in our mirroring code which was preventing several of our mirror servers from updating.
The bug has been identified and the outdated mirrors are being brought up to date right now and I'm verifying each one.
Once the mirrors are current, I'll be resolving the mirror bug.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
-Rich

Thanks Rich, that's fixed it for our VMs.ralloway wrote: ↑2021/12/08 16:12:46Greetings!

Great! I'm glad to hear it!
There was one straggler that held on until morning, but it just finished updating. All of the others were up-to-date by about 10p EST last night.
FYI, there were actually two issues, both with the mirroring code, that created the issue. If it had been only one or the other, this would have been resolved about 10 hours earlier. Both of the issues have been addressed and won't be causing further staleness.
Please let me know if you encounter any further issues as I believe everything is resolved at this time.
