Hi all
I have Centos 7 (Linux xxxxxxxxxl 3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Oct 13 17:20:51 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) and use ntfs-3g in my fstab file (extract bellow) to access in rw mode one other Windows partition on my laptop (I have 3 SSD HD, one with linux, one with Windows 10 and other for data)
/dev/nvme0n1p2 /mnt/datalake ntfs-3g rw,umask=0000,default 0 0
/dev/nvme1n1p2 /mnt/xxxxxxxx-w-c ntfs-3g rw,umask=0222,default 0 0
/dev/nvme1n1p4 /mnt/xxxxxxxx-w-d ntfs-3g rw,umask=0000,default 0 0
Since some days, having nothing change (expect yum update command to get packages updates), I can't have write access anymore on my non-linux partition. Bugs brought by a recent ntfs-3G package update ?
Even if i boot on a previous and old kernel, the problem is still here
Thank you for your advices
Regards
[CentOs 7] No more write acces on other partitions
Re: [CentOs 7] No more write acces on other partitions
Is it mounted read-only?
Does dmesg give a clue?
Sheesh!

Re: [CentOs 7] No more write acces on other partitions
Does it need chkdsk on Windows run?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: [CentOs 7] No more write acces on other partitions
On a system with automatic updates I have this:
# rpm -qa --last|grep ntfs
ntfs-3g-libs-2021.8.22-2.el7.x86_64 Sat 18 Sep 2021 08:44:35 CEST
ntfs-3g-2021.8.22-2.el7.x86_64 Sat 18 Sep 2021 08:44:35 CEST
Maybe you could check when you got this and see if it coincides with your problem?

It looks like similar... Today, the problem seems have to be ran away... So there is also a random parameter I can't explain...
regarding my windows partition, windows 10 launch without trouble and without chkdsk
Still on the edge...

Re: [CentOs 7] No more write acces on other partitions [Solved]
Seems to be solved now ! Found the root cause (I hope) due to... A windows Reason !
In fact, the other partition where I encountered the issue was the windows one (dual boot W10 / Linux Centos) and perhaps a recent windows update has altered a fast boot option. Then, I set the windows fast boot option to off / disabled as explained in the link bellow (for example) and I never encountered again the issue !
