NewInstall and keyboard '|' missing

Post by j0mpst0rt » 2021/06/10 19:16:19

Hi, I've just installed Centos 7.9 on a Dell R6515 to find that the pipe '|' symbol is missing.

I cannot find it and assume it was because i chose the United Kingdom (GB) locale when installing from the .iso.

I am logging in via the virtual console via IDRAC. all my other windows work.

What have I done wrong and how can I fix it .

Very difficult to us OS as you can imagine if you cant pipe commands together :(.

Thank you in Advance.

Dell iDRACs default to a US keyboard so many things that are in one place on a UK one produce the wrong results. You'll have to experiment to find out which key or key combinations produce the character you want but I'd try Alt-Gr and the key at the top lefthand side, just below the Esc key.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
