3.10.0-862.34.2.el7.x86_64
This is a) ancient and b) not a released kernel for CentOS.

You need to run yum update to get current on 3.10.0-1160.25.1.el7.x86_64 though since that is not a CentOS kernel I presume it's actually a RHEL system since they are the only people that could provide an unreleased kernel like that.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
