I'm trying to install CentOS 7 on HP Envy x360 laptop.
But CentOS 7 installation cannot detect the SSD.
In the Installation Destination screen, the following error message can appear at the bottom:
No disks detected. Please shut down the computer, connect at least one disk, and restart to complete installation.
System information:
HP ENVY x360 convertible 13-bd0xxx
11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7@2.80G
Physical disk information:
KXG60ZNV512G KIOXIA
Controller Type: NVMe
Controller interface: PCIe
BIOS information:
Secure boot is disabled.
It doesn't have the Legacy BIOS settings menu, only uEFI settings menu.
UEFI HII Configuration
Intel Rapid Strage Technology (Intel RST 18.0.0.4897 RST VMD Driver)
Non-RAID Phisical Disks: PCIe 0.0. KXG60ZNV512G KIOXIA 476.9GB
I confirmed the following.
CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-2003.iso installation cannot detect the SSD. (NG)
CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-2009.iso installation cannot detect the SSD. (NG)
CentOS-8.2.2004-x86_64-minimal.iso installation cannot detect the SSD. (NG)
CentOS-8.3.2011-x86_64-minimal.iso installation CAN detect the SSD. (OK)
So, CentOS 8.3 is OK, others NG.
and,
I can find "PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Tiger Lake-LP PCI Express Root Port #9" and "Non-Volatile memory controller: Toshiba Corporation Device 011a" on CentOS8.3 installation,
but not on centos7 installation.
Please refer to attached file.

I want to try to install centos7 on HP Envy x360 laptop.
Do you have any good solutions in regards to that?
HP ENVY x360 laptop - CentOS 7 installation cannot detect the SSD
Re: HP ENVY x360 laptop - CentOS 7 installation cannot detect the SSD
This CPU was released in Q3-2020 and laptop in Q4-2020.
RHEL 8.2 on which CentOS 8.2 is based, was released April 2020.
RHEL 8.3 on which CentOS 8.3 is based, was released November 2020.
So the support for this hardware was added in 8.3.
RHEL 7.9 on was release September 2020. Apparently is does not support your laptop.
It is not clear for me whether future 7.x release will support this laptop. RHEL 7 is in maintenance support phase, which means that support for newer hardware is only added when it requires minor changes. See https://access.redhat.com/product-life- ... se%20Linux
