ntp install

Post by good_face » 2020/11/20 12:32:07

the server is not open to the internet. How can I install the ntp package. I searched the package on the internet. There are too many files. I could not find which file to download. Is there a place where I can download it as a single file. Also, using which tools can I transfer this package to a server that is not open to the internet and how do I install it?

os is centos 7

I think the default ntp client/server on C7 is chrony.
Looks like you can check the dependencies with this:
rpm -qp mypackage.rpm --provides
rpm -qp mypackage.rpm --requires
But why would you need this if it isn't connected to net?

This is CentOS 7? Just yum install ntp and you are done. No need to 'search the package on the internet' as it's something we supply.

It's deprecated but we supply it. To use it you will have to uninstall or disable the chronyd daemon as it already does the same job as ntpd and is the default and is most likely already installed.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
