Kernel: drm_atomic ERROR message

Post by Coling » 2020/11/16 17:01:29

I have recently updated several servers to CentOS 7.8.2003 Kernel: 3.10.0-1127.18.2.el7.x86_64.
On one of the servers we are seeing the following error messages in /var/log/messages

messages-20201115:Nov 13 00:08:16 <hostname> kernel: [drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_dependencies [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* [CRTC:37:crtc-0] flip_done timed out
messages-20201115:Nov 13 00:08:26 <hostname> kernel: [drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_dependencies [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* [PLANE:33:plane-0] flip_done timed out

Some research say this is to do with "Direct Rendering Manager" but these servers are MySQL DB servers and do not have a graphical interface.
I did not see any issues when the server was rebooted to install the new kernel.
Does anyone know why we are seeing these errors now and is there a fix?

Just in time for the release of 7.9.2009 so now you get to start over.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
