kernel-rt update for 7.8?

Post by R37ribution » 2020/06/01 15:23:20

Hi all, it seems RedHat has released an updated kernel-rt for 7.8 - kernel-rt-3.10.0-1127.8.2.rt56.1103.el7.x86_64.rpm - I'm not sure of the exact timing of its release, but it was there early last week when I looked.

I noticed that the latest kernel available for CentOS is http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/rt/x8 ... x86_64.rpm

I also noticed that kernel-rt updates do seem to get built for CentOS on previous releases of CentOS, namely:
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/rt/x8 ... x86_64.rpm

I was curious about the cadence for the kernel-rt compiling? I understand that normal package updates from RedHat get recompiled in to CentOS within a few days. Is it different for kernel-rt?

Thanks for your reply!

I do not think the RT kernel is officially supported and gets updates only when they are requested specifically.

Hey TervorH, thank you for the quick reply.

What is the process by which you request a kernel-rt update?

You'd have to raise a bug on bugs.centos.org requesting it but I am not sure if it will succeed. You can always ask.
