sftp disconnects immediately

hello -

i have a new weird issue with sftp. when i use the command-line, it just disconnects me immediately. Filezilla gives me
FATAL ERROR: Received unexpected end-of-file from SFTP server
this has worked fine for years, no changes made that i can think of, except for a yum reboot.

NOTE: PuTTY continues to work fine, using the same port number.

i know this is not some strange firewall issue because PuTTY continues to work, and i get the same results when i try sftp from the SAME server.

here are the server messages:

Code: Select all

tail -f /var/log/secure

and here is the verbose command-line:

SOLUTION:

change /etc/ssh/sshd_config:
#Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server
Subsystem sftp internal-sftp
