.pcscxx directories within each user's home directory

Post by DarkSmurf » 2020/05/20 04:14:42

I build two (2) new CentOS 7.7 desktop systems, and every local user's home folder is populating with two or more .pcscxx directories.

I searched the web, but found no articles or references to these directories.

Has anyone seen them, or know what they are? Is it safe to remove them?

Sounds like they probably belong to the pcsc-lite set of packages that handle smart card support. Check if you have any installed with rpm -qa pcsc\* and then review if you need them.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

TrevorH,

Thanks for the info. However, running your suggested command reveled nothing on either server.

I even tried pscs*/* with nothing.

It does not seem to hamper the system, and I delete these from one test use, only to have them show up again. Strange to me.

Did you make the same typo in the command that you did in the forum? It's rpm -qa pcsc\* and not pscs.
