kpatch management tool: patch running kernel without rebooting ?

Post by hapx » 2020/03/19 05:31:12

Hello,

The latest available kernel update has this description:

17/3/2020 RHEA-2020:0869 - Product Enhancement Advisory
https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2020:0869
A new kpatch-patch-3_10_0-1062_18_1 package is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description
The kpatch management tool provides a kernel patching infrastructure which allows you to patch a running kernel without rebooting or restarting any processes.

Does this mean that from now on, future kernel updates no longer require rebooting?

Thank you.

CentOS doesn't provide kpatch files.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
