did denyhosts get removed recently

Post by lightman47 » 2020/02/07 14:53:06

I fired up an infrequently used machine this morning to run updates and am getting denyhost error emails - I suspect triggered by fail2ban. As other C7 machines don't seem to have denyhosts on them, I deleted it from this machine. I am only asking because it's curious that this machine had it and others didn't.

Thank you.
Remember - importing/building packages will likely "byte you in the butt" come update time, long after you'd forgotten you did that! Use repos whenever possible.

It's not like it was removed, rather it looks like it never was there in the first place. According to https://pkgs.org/download/denyhosts it is a package from Repoforge repo. A package with similar functionality in EPEL is sshguard.

denyhosts certainly used to be in EPEL as that's where I got it from.
