Cannot Play DVDs

Hi All,

My DVD drive does not play DVDs, CDs seem to play ok, I have tried a couple of players - vlc, Gnome-Mplayer and the default application - none work. The DVD title is recognised in the playlist, however clicking it spins the disc but no sound or image. I thought I may need a codec, however I think I have pretty much everything. I can play videos on the hard drive.

libdvdread: Encrypted DVD support unavailable.

Installing libdvdcss fixes this.

I got the same error and tried installing libdvdcss per these step:

However, now I receive this error:

DVDs are not CDs and thus won't play on a cdrom drive. However, a DVD player will play CDs.
