Cron config

I know that i can use crontab -e to edit my job, but where is the config file ?

/etc/crontab does'nt work on centos 6

are there difference path for centos 5,6,7 ?

There is no 'config' file. When you run crontab -e then you are editing the per-user crontab entry whose files are kept in /var/spool/cron. This is separate and different from the system crontab file in /etc/crontab. The format of the lines is different - the per user one doesn't have a 'user' field, the system one does.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!
