qla2xxx Cable is Unplugged after upgrading to Centos 7

Post by i68040 » 2014/12/30 06:33:55

Hi everyone,

I am unable to boot my server now that I have performed an upgrade to Centos 7. Here is what I did:
- Ran preupg
- Ran redhat-upgrade-tool-cli --network 7 --instrepo=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64
- Rebooted and ran the 'System Upgrade' grub entry

Now my server gets stuck at [ 25.943747] qla2xxx [0000:00:00.0]-8038:0: Cable is unplugged...

I can boot the old centos 6 grub entry just fine. Can someone give me some tips for how I can troubleshoot this further?

Thanks!

I found a few threads that suggested booting into rescue mode. When I try to do that I get a message that says:
You don't have any Linux partitions. Press return to get a shell. The system will reboot automatically when you exit from the shell
This is pretty puzzling. The qLogic driver appears to be in the kernel in CentOS 6.x, so I would assume that it would be available in 7. I could really use some advice at this point.

I think this thread has my answer: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=48032

Looks like Centos 7 has dropped support for certain HP CCISS RAID controllers, most likely including the one on my ProLiant BL460c. I'm working with my hosting provider to get setup on a machine that can support Centos 7 without any hacks or work-arounds.
