Post by helgi » 2014/11/12 09:07:13

How to install them in centOS7, I'm add epel repo and try to install but:

#yum install python26

......
* base: mirrors.neterra.net
* epel: mirrors.neterra.net
* extras: mirrors.neterra.net
* rpmforge: mirrors.neterra.net
* updates: mirrors.neterra.net
No package python26 available.
Error: Nothing to do

I have split your post off from the 2 year old topic you posted to that was in the wrong forum and moved this one here.

There is no python 2.6 for CentOS 7. If you need python 2.6 then you should run CentOS 6 where it is the default python. CentOS 6 has support until 2020. The python in CentOS 7 is 2.7.5 and should be mostly compatible with python 2.6 so did you actually try your code or just assume it doesn't work?
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
