I have a SUN hp sl24 tapeloader with a lto4 drive.
Centos sees it fine, lets me change tapes, write tapes, auto changes tapes in Bacula, etc, mtx loves it, everything is good
except.....
If I take out a magazine to change tapes, the system never sees the setup again until I reboot. Actually, that process/device seems to hang
Nothing else hangs, everything is responsive, except the tape program and any tape drive use. Everything for tape pretty much hangs or says bad function (IOCtl error).
So my questions:
Centos6, this works fine, what broke in Centos7?
What can I look at when the system is in this condition?
What could I kill to force this hanging to unhange?
Is there a bug or fix for this?
Thank you

Re: Centos7 - scsi - tapeloader wierd problem
More research....
Some people in FreeBSD are seeing this problem. Well, it isn't really a problem, as the drive needs to be 'reconnected' or mtx hangs.
In FreeBSD, the user puts the magazine back in and before any device command (mtx, etc), type: chio -f /dev/ch0 status -S
This reconnects the device and things work
Well Centos does not have a chio command
Any ideas?

Re: Centos7 - scsi - tapeloader wierd problem
I have posted a bug report for this in October, no one seems to pick it up. Sigh
Re: Centos7 - scsi - tapeloader wierd problem
To get bugs fixed that are not packaging errors by CentOS you have to raise them on bugzilla.redhat.com. CentOS is bug for bug compatible with the corresponding version of RHEL so if it's a bug in RHEL then it's a bug in CentOS.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
