KVM CentOS Linux 5.9 hangs on boot after installation

Post by vamfoom » 2014/08/15 18:55:19

I'm able kick a CentOS 5.9 guest VM on CentOS 7. After the kick, boot hangs after kernel and initrd loads. Grub shows up and boot starts but the system hangs with a little square then a cursor and the system doesn't actually boot. The kernel doesn't seem to be able to boot. This is the config that's created after install by virt-install:

Code: Select all

Re: KVM CentOS Linux 5.9 hangs on boot after installation

Hmm. This seems to a problem on centos 6.5 host too.

The installs completes successfully but on boot it hangs after grub loads kernel and initrd then starts booting. Seems to be a problem with centos 5.9 guest only. centos 6.5 guest works fine. Any thought as to why centos 5.9 guest hangs on boot?

Current version is 5.10, not 5.9.
