Xen support

Post by Gene » 2014/07/07 18:43:44

I haven't had a chance to look into yet, but I am curious: how is Xen support for CentOS 7 looking?

I see upstream that running it as a Xen guest is supported. Was any of the Xen stuff removed from the Kernel for this release, or is the mainline stuff all there?

I assume Xen4CentOS will eventually make its way to this release (based on a comment in the release notes).

I believe the current state is that el7 will run as an HVM guest on xen but not as PV. I'm not sure why or if that's a bug or a feature. I also believe that the plan is to release a xen4centos7 at some point but it's not around yet and may not be particularly quick since there are lots of other things to do too.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
