[Resolved] Epel Repository Failing
Re: Epel Repository Failing
Without a URL I will be unable to test to see what the problem is.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Epel Repository Failing
I don't follow. Isn't the URL part of the epel.repo file? I don't provide any URL with 'yum'.
Re: Epel Repository Failing
No, the URL that is there is the one for mirrorlist= which contacts the mirrorlist server and retrieves a long list of possible urls to which it can connect and it chooses one from that list and uses it. I get about 100 different urls in the xml the mirrorlist returns and I am not about to test those one by one.

Re: Epel Repository Failing
Now I am getting desperate. I need to install a library from the epel repository. Is there no one that understands what the error I am getting means?
Re: Epel Repository Failing
No idea what your problem is, but as a stopgap, maybe you could try to manually
download the library package and then use rpm (or yum) to install it?

Re: Epel Repository Failing
You also raised a bug on nuigs.c.o and I replied there since that had the information in it that I requested here about the urls you are using. I tested both example URLs in that bug from a CentOS 7 up-to-date system and both work perfectly which points to this being a local problem, affecting only you so it's likely that it is a configuration issue on your end.

Re: Epel Repository Failing
I've managed to resolve the problem. I restored a copy of epel.repo from an old backup. I don't know what update replaced the old version but restoring it resolved my problem. Thanks for the help.
