Where to turn for help? Upgrade to CentOS 7.9 broke something

Post by blue-donkey » 2020/12/03 20:12:51

What's the procedure here?

I updated from CentOS 7.8 to CentOS 7.9.
The new version of systemd has a bug in systemd-journald. Doesn't seem to be a commonly encountered bug, as I seem to be the only person in the world who noticed.
Systemd maintainers won't help; they said that CentOS 7 uses too old a version of systemd. I can't upgrade it any further, it's as upgraded as CentOS allows.
I have opened tickets with RedHat Bugzilla but they just sit there with no activity.

What is the actual problem?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

`journalctl -D /var/log/journal/remote` does not display log entries from all of the files in /var/log/journal/remote -- only some of them.

That sounds like an issue that would need to be fixed by Red Hat. What are the bugzilla entries that you raised?

I don't have one for this specific issue. I meant that historically I have tried going the bugzilla route but they either outright ignore things or close them without resolution.

If you want it fixed then you have to report it on bugzilla.redhat.com
