Hi
I am trying to install "Brightsotor ARCserve backup" onto a CentOS, we bought because on the specification says that it is compatible with RedHat and Centos suppose to be the same, but when I run the installation script, it comes with this message
Cannot identify your Linux distribution or it is not yet supported.
I have modified the files:
redhat-release
grub.conf
issue
issue.net
rc.sysinit.
changing the word CentOS by RHEL, but I still I have the same error, is it because it's not RHEL (the word) and it's something else, or does somebody know which files should I change or how can I make it work?
RedHat Version file
RedHat Version file
One clue;
$ cat /etc/*release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 4.92 (Tikanga)
But it might be looking for something like;
$ rpm -qa redhat-release
redhat-release-4.92Client-2
Good Luck

$ rpm -qa redhat-release

Re: RedHat Version file
Lenard,
in /etc/redhat-release it gives me the CentOS version and I have already changed, but the installer might be looking for "RHEL", "RedHat", "Red Hat" or "Redhat", or "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.4 ES" in /etc/redhat-release (or one of the files described above) , but I dont know what exactly says in the real version of RedHat EL 4
Do you (or somebody else) know if I can download the original version Redhat EL 4 to check this out? or can somebody tell me the spelling of the content of this(these) file(s)? If somebody have a RHEL4 version installed and could send me those files would be great!!!
Thanks

Re: RedHat Version file
One you have the spelling in the clue, you can easily figure out the release number and (name).
Two, it is not legal for anybody to send you anything that is the property of Red Hat without a license to do so. Why do you think CentOS re-brands the release rpm files anyhow????
