CentoOS RPMs for extra software (apache, etc)

Post by forrie » 2006/07/24 19:04:57

Is there a central repository for CentOS to keep RPMs of other code such as apache, and other extras.

If so, I'd like to see that in the Wiki or documentation (I've not found it, anyway).

Thx.

Here are the official repositories : http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories
If you wanna mean newer apache version and so on, forget it because the mainly goal of CentOS is to be upstream compatible ... so no newer kernels, no newer apps version (except for example php5 if you enable the centosplus repo ...)

I am installing on some systems that do not have a live network (yet) in a colo. One hitch I ran into was with MySQL-5.x (x86_64) with a Perl requirement (DBI).

I couldn't override this via the RPM command (I'm new to RPM, from BSD).

We have "minimal" installs on these systems, which is what I prefer. Are the necessary RPMs and dependencies available on one of the other disc's? If so, how do I utilize rpm/yum/whatever to install them from the CDROM.

Thanks.

The systems I have deployed do not have X installed... they are the typical "minimal" installation. Is there a command-line tool that browses the CD similarly that I've missed?
