backspace/arrow keys holding down

Post by ajayj » 2006/07/09 22:29:24

Hi,

I have just upgraded my system from RH9 to Centos4 and so far I like it very much.
One thing I have noticed is that I cannot hold down the backspace key to delete many characters in a row.
Also, when I hold down an arrow key, it does not move in that direction for more than one character
until i perform many little taps on the key.

I realize this is almost certainly by design, but I'd like to know how to change it so that I can just hold down a key
to have it perform that action over and over without tapping the key.

Thanks,
ajay

It is not by design?!

probably your keyboard is not properly detected.

thanks for the response. any idea on how I might resolve this? I have a standard keyboard from logitech - it's not something special.

thanks

ah...i figured out the problem....if one goes to Applications->Preferences->Keyboard, you can switch
the delay that occurs before when pressing down a key takes effect.
reducing the delay fixed this for me.
