YUM update cannot find mirrors

My yum update is failing with the following error messages:

http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/updates/i386/repodata/primary.xml.gz: [Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 500: ( Not implemented)
Trying other mirror.
Error: failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

Any ideas? This doesn't seem to be a temporary outage because it's been going on for days. This box doesn't have any problems going to other sites and there is no proxy server involved.

thanks!

paul

I have the same problem. I've just tried a to upgrade a fresh CentOS 4.2 installation.

I tried to get the file with 'wget' and 'elinks', both of them failed to download.

From an other machine (Win XP) with Firefox the download was successfull.

No proxy, other files (without the .gz extension) have no problem.

Thanks:
Attila

It seemi it's happening becouse of a misconfigured windows firewall (ISA?). Try up2date, it's working.
