Samba Client

Post by dgoodma » 2006/01/04 15:26:41

I cannot mount Windows shares from my CentOS desktop. Read, tried, cliicked and frustrated. Most of what I read seems to be directed at setting up a Samba server. I just want to mount existing Windows shares.

We have an Active Directory Domain on the Windows side.

The most I have got to work is prompting me for an ID and password, and then it says it cannot display the contents of the directory.

HELP please. :-(

I will reply to myself, feeling somewhat better although still kind of confused.

I have managed to mount my Windows share, from the command prompt, plus made some changes in the smb.conf file

The GUI still will not mount the server.

mount //server/share /home/user/directory -o username=xxxx,dmask-777,\fmask=777

That works, manullay. Again, for whatever reason the GUI does not. Supposedly you can set up mount points in the fstab file, but I cannot crack the syntax for putting all of the above information in. So, I created a shell script to run that does it.
