Unable to browse to websites other than CentOS.

Post by Knick » 2005/12/17 04:33:31

I am running CentOS 4.2 as a new linux user. Running Mozilla Firefox I can browse the internet only to www.centos.org and my company's website. I have tried google.com, weather.com, yahoo.com, msn.com, samba.org, and openldap.org and cannot connect to any of them. I can get to them using Konqueror, however.

Has anyone else seen this, and if so, what can I do to fix it?

Sounds pretty strange. Make sure your DNS is working:
$ host www.google.com
www.google.com is an alias for www.l.google.com.
www.l.google.com has address 216.239.59.104
www.l.google.com has address 216.239.59.99
www.l.google.com has address 216.239.59.147
www.l.google.com has address 216.239.59.103

I ended up reinstalling CentOS. I no longer have the same problem so it must have just been something I did during the first install.
