Problem with DST Oracle 10.2

Post by yyagol » 2007/09/24 21:20:13

I have an Oracle 10.2 DB running .
all was working fine until just last week the Time Zone at my region switched to winter time.
when i try to start the EMC i got strange errors. the server is CentOS 4.5
i run this command emctl start dbconsole that gave me this :
Timezone mismatch: The agentTZRegion value (Asia/Jerusalem) in
/opt/oracle/10g/xxx.xxx.xxx_zzz/sysman/config/emd.properties
does not match the current environment TZ setting(Asia/Jerusalem).
The dbconsole cannot run with this mismatch.
While checking the validation agentTZ i get this offset :
tzOffset for Asia/Jerusalem is 180(min), but agent is runnning with tzOffset 120(min)
trying again after waiting for 1 sec to account for daylight transition
tzOffset for Asia/Jerusalem is 180(min), but agent is runnning with tzOffset 120(min)
any one know to correct this so the dbconsole can run again ?

Thanks

OK i found a work around for this problem
here is what i did :
export TZ=<oracle offset tz>
emctl stop dbconsole
emctl status dbconsole (this shows that agent is running)
netstat -nlptu |grep 1158
kill <pid of 1158 port>
emctl start dbconsole
For a final solution oracle advised to upgrade this DB into 10.2.0.3 or 11g
this DBs got DST patch for an elegant solution.
