Dear Community,
i ┬┤ve got the above mentioned Problem with a HP Pavillion ZD8318 Laptop.
When trying to boot from DVD, the kernel displays some messages, and hangs on the first ACPI Kernel Message
what is like

ACPI: Subsystem revision 20040816

Details about the Laptop Hardware as follows:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 630 @3000Mhz
i915 Chipset

1GB DDR2 533 RAM

ATi Mobility Radeon X600 PCIe VGA

I really want to get Cent OS running on this machine , since i am already running it on my self build Desktop and i find it as an easy to use, secure and powerful linux operating system.

Can anyone help in this matter?

Try this; linux noapic noprobe acpi=off

Other possible options are; http://www.centos.org/docs/4/html/rhel-ig-x8664-multi-en-4/ap-bootopts.html

And yes the acpi=off option is not listed but does work just like the apm=off option (do not know why it is not listed).
