Hi,
I have a departmental server with a dual Opteron HW (Tyan motherboard) and CentOS4 X86_64, 2Gbyte RAM.

My server provides samba and NFS services to the users. The user base is about 25 samba users, 15 NFS users. Once every 2 - 3 days the printer queue hangs. On /var/log/messages I can read this:

Apr 28 14:48:47 thor kernel: cupsd[1601]: segfault at ffffffffffffffff rip 0000002a96277e45 rsp 0000007fbfffb798 error 6

There is no way to restart the printer queue, I always delete and recreate the queue again (may be a lock file is not removed, but I did not spend the time to investigate it).

The CUPS package is the one shipped with the final release of the X86_64 distribution (even if marked as RC).

Version : 1.1.22 Vendor: CentOS
Release : 0.rc1.9.6 Build Date: Fri 18 Feb 2005 04:23:22 AM CET

The printer that hang are 2 HP postscript laserjets (LJ4050TN and a LJ2300).

This problem is seriously annoying, has anyone noticed it ? Do you have some remedies ?

Thanks,
Paolo
