php GD extension not working

Post by pbrady » 2007/07/08 23:31:22

Hi,

I am using CENTOS 4 with Godaddy and I am unable to install a php application because it claims that the GD php extension is not installed...this is what my machine shows:

# uname -a
Linux machine.name.com 2.6.9-023stab043.1-smp #1 SMP Mon Mar 5 16:35:19 MSK 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@machine userid]# php -v
PHP 4.4.7 (cli) (built: Jun 19 2007 22:19:52)
Copyright (c) 1997-2007 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
[root@machine userid]# rpm -qa |grep php
php-mbstring-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-devel-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-imap-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-ncurses-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-domxml-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-ldap-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-snmp-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-xmlrpc-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-gd-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-pear-4.3.9-3.22.5
php-odbc-4.3.9-3.22.5

When I look at phpinfo(); it also does not show that gd extension is installed...yet it shows up here as installed.

Can someone help me out? I've been beating my head over this one for days and have gotten the "can't help you" from godaddy!

Looks like you're not running the CentOS PHP, and so you'll have to compile PHP with the GD Module yourself.

These may help get you started:
