Maybe no one knows.

So maybe this will help other people with similar problems as me.

Compiled from php-5.0.4-source on i386. Reason, I was unable to determine and configure centosphp5 options.

./configure --build=i686-redhat-linux-gnu --host=i686-redhat-linux-gnu --target=i386-redhat-linux-gnu --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --cache-file=../config.cache --with-libdir=lib --with-config-file-path=/etc --with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php.d --disable-debug --with-pic --disable-rpath --with-bz2 --with-curl --with-exec-dir=/usr/bin --with-freetype-dir=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr --enable-gd-native-ttf --without-gdbm --with-gettext --with-gmp --with-iconv --with-jpeg-dir=/usr --without-openssl --with-png --without-pspell --with-expat-dir=/usr --with-zlib --with-layout=GNU --enable-exif --enable-ftp --enable-magic-quotes --enable-sockets --enable-sysvsem --enable-sysvshm --enable-sysvmsg --enable-track-vars --enable-trans-sid --enable-yp --enable-wddx --with-pear=/usr/share/pear --with-kerberos --enable-ucd-snmp-hack --enable-memory-limit --enable-shmop --enable-calendar --enable-dbx --enable-dio --with-mime-magic=/etc/httpd/conf/magic --without-sqlite --with-libxml-dir=/usr --with-xml --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --without-gd --without-odbc --disable-dom --disable-dba

make

make install

Suggestions or Comments welcome

Cheers,

I am having the same issues when upgrading to PHP-5.0.5... CentOS for some reason left MySQL out of the configure.

That is no CentOS fault. PHP did that.

PHP4 had mysql complied into the main app; while, PHP5 does not. PHP5 contains mySQL Lite. So to get mysql access with php5 you have to add it in by hand so say. Like I said php4 had it built in so this is not needed when centos built their system. Because centos uses php4 version tree.

mysql support is built as a shared object. You can see this in the spec file for php. You have to have php-mysql installed. It's not been "left out".
