I recently loaded CentOS 4.5 on a new system. I am looking for a guide for hardening the system. I found a pretty good one for Redhat:
http://www.puschitz.com/SecuringLinux.shtml
I was hoping I could use it, but it deals with rpms and I know CentOS uses yum, which got me thinking that I should look for a good guide written specifically for CentOS. I plan on using this system as an IDS/firewall. I loaded it with minimal packages and a boot loader password.
Where should I go from here?

Yum uses RPM. Think of it as a front-end.

Did you look at the guide I linked to? Does it look good to you?

It seems to be a good, distro-agnostic guide.
http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/LinuxTutorialInternetSecurity.html has some discussion on some of the more popular scanning tools like Nessus that might be of interest.
