DHCP Request Get Through

Post by mxbsuper » 2006/09/04 07:36:34

Hi There All

This is my first post on this forum.

I have only been using Linux for a couple of weeks and have been very successfull by enlarge, in getting IPTABLES to work pretty well. (NAT implementation)

It does all of the filtering etc. that I require, however, I have noticed a floor in my implementation.

For some reason DHCP requests are acknowledged on/through the outside interface even though I have a rule blocking all traffic initiated from outside to inside.

I suspect that this due to my rule applying to IP traffic and that DHCP requests are not IP as such. I am thinking that I may need to implement the use of the PHYSDEV command/feature.

Please advise?

Why does DHCP traffic pass through?

Regards

Mark

You posted on a U.S. National holiday.
That reduces the audience significantly.
Also, don't expect answers from people who don't know the answer.

... humh ... because you let it pass through ?
What's your config because it's really hard to guess it .... and for your information irc is another method of getting in touch with centos users in case you find this forum too slow to answer your question ... : #centos on irc.freenode.net
