How to check if firewall is installed? Newbie

Post by varelg » 2006/08/26 16:24:06

Hi,
I noticed some issues with network connectivity (a CentOS 4.2 and a WinXP machine in a simple file sharing network) and was wondering if firewall is installed by default when I install CentOS (or given as an option to install during install screens, I don't quite recall it now since I installed CentOSa while ago) and how to check if one is installed... and if it is, how to switch it off...

From the desktop, see: System > Administration > Security Level and Firewall

And from command line:
$ su -
Password:
# iptables -L
--OR--
# service iptables status
# service iptables stop
# service iptables start
