How do you get the EXTRAVERSION with an rpmbuild.

I am trying to get ready to build a new kernel so I can apply the Linux-abi patches. I am currently running the 2.6.9-22.0.1 kernel but also have the 2.6.9-11 kernel available and bootable. I have the source rpms for both versions. The only Linux ABI patch I can find is for 2.6.9-11 so I was going to try it first and then move forward and try to apply to 2.6.9-22.0.1.

I will ultimately have both sources on my machine for a while. I did the download for the -11 source rpm which was the 2.6.9 sources and then the patches to bring it up to 2.6.9-11. But my problem is that when I did the

rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 ./SPEC/kernel-2.6.spec

in my /user/src/redhat directory what it created in /usr/src/redhat/BUILD was a directory kernel-2.6.9 and below that a directory linux-2.6.9.

I assume at this point I should move the linux-2.6.9 to my /usr/src tree for configuring the ABI patch application but what I really wanted was to have a linux-2.6.9-11 directory and then I would modify the EXTRAVERSION in the makefile to refelct that is was -11ABI

In the grand scheme of preparing a kernel like this did I miss a step or is it just as simple as moving the linux-2.6.9 kernel to a /usr/src/linux-2.6.9-11 directory.

All help greatly appreciated.
