SMTP Authenticatication with Active Directory

Post by blakegrover » 2008/09/10 16:10:44

We currently are using Proofpoint servers scanning our emails for viruses/spam and then they get forwarded to our internal Exchange 2003 servers. We do not allow access to the exchange servers from the outside. This makes employees unable to use us as their smtp server. We are currently looking for an open source product that will authenticate users with our active directory and then relay the email to the appropriate place. I have looked into using sendmail, but I have not found a good howto or tutorial that explains exactly what needs to be done to configure sendmail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Blake

I have found something that might work, but I would like your opinions to see if this is correct. If I add these lines to my sendmail config file and then compile it, would this accomplish what I am wanting to do?

FEATURE(`ldap_routing')dnl
LDAPROUTE_DOMAIN(`xxx.xx.xx.xxx')dnl
define(confLDAP_DEFAULT_SPEC,`-h xxx.xx.xx.xxx -b "dc=example,dc=com" -d "cn=example,dc=com,dc=org" -P /etc/mail/ldap')

FEATURE(`access_db', `LDAP')
FEATURE(`virtusertable', `LDAP')
