server takeover after 1 server down

Post by khaims » 2011/05/25 09:02:41

Hi, I'm Khai,

I have 2 netapps server, running Unix filesystem as a server to a centOS 3.7 and 4.6 hosts. I'm using NIS.
Both servers are identical interm of data use by the Linux hosts.
I have assume that the Linux will be have same behaviour with Unix.
I have set these 2 server to takeover one after another if one server is down.
By using Unix, I just need to reboot for the Unix hosts so that it will go the other server.
But this not happening on Linux.

Please help to advice how it can automount the alive server after it rebooted. :-D

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Reading FAQ & Readme First is recommended for new users.

CentOS 3 has passed end of life and the current CentOS 4 release is 4.9 - obsolete releases are not supported.

I have no idea what you are saying about Unix versus Linux, nor do you say what Unix flavor you may be using, nor what networked filesystem[s] you are attempting to use. NIS (Network Information Services) is derived from the old Sun yellow pages, and is not a filesystem. Do you mean NFS?

Please try again after updating to current supported release[s] and reading all the links in my signature.
