Duplicate Mac address on ibm x3650 centos 4.6

Post by greenmonster78 » 2008/07/10 19:54:05

I am running an ibm x3650 with both nic's hooked up with separate ip addresses. We are using the server primarily as a vmware server. It is running 36 vmware guests on it. Because of the limitation of vmware server only allowing about 33 virtual nic's connected to one physical nic we have to have both enabled. The problem is that the mac address seems to jump back and forth between the nics. Some times the mac addresses are the same on both nic's, some times they are different and the mac for one sometimes jumps to the other or shows up on both. This is causing a couple of problems. Mainly when transferring data to it.

I have no clue why this is going on. I check the ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-eth1 file and the mac addresses match up and are correct.
