multiple connection problem *urgent*

Post by baggins » 2007/06/20 19:20:14

Hello,

I have setup eth0 and a second connection being a phone modem(/dev/ttys0). I am wondering if i can setup the second to auto dialup and connect if the eth0 is down. is this possible?

Thanks,
baggins

Sure it's possible. You just have to write some scripts to make it happen.

BTW, why is this "urgent"?

Your boss is jerk.

What you want to do requires custom scripting, and it probably isn't something for someone who describes himself as a newbie to tackle. It can be done, but to do it right is going to be pretty complex for someone who is new to scripting.

There are ( or were ) DSL routers available that auto-fallback to a modem if the DSL modem link fails.

Thanks,
