ipset support

Post by andy76 » 2007/05/21 14:46:09

Hi, I'm a CentOS and Linux newbie. This is my first message in the forum :-).

I'm trying to implement a linux router. I need the support of ipset feature, that requires kernel patch&recompilation. Before trying this way, I'm asking myself if CentOS (4.4, or even 5) just has the patch-o-matic features applied. Can anyone help me?

Thanks, Andrea

I've tried to patch and recompile the kernel using this tutorial using sources from www.kernel.org. The patch is applied successfully, but the compile process doesn't work. During the launch of make menuconfig, I obtain a list of ".config:...:warning: trying to assign nonexistent symbol..." too.

Am I wrong anything?

It sounds like you need more development packages installed for this, ncurses and others will help.

Post the full output of the error.

ipset support

Why do you think you need ipset? There are thousands of linux based routers out there on the net doing a bang-up job everyday without ipset. Have you tried setting up your router using just the tools that come with CentOS?
