Access to Windows Network from CentOS 4.4 WITH firewall enabled

Post by pongan » 2007/03/14 20:11:09

My CentOS 4.4 can't see Windows Network if firewall is enabled.

If I disable firewall I can see Windows Network.

How can I see my Windows Network with firewall enabled?

Thank you very much!

Run setup
Select firewall configuration, and enable Samba.

Why I must to start smb service??
I don't want access to CentOS from Windows, but I want only access to Windows from CentOS!
In other Linux (example Fedora Core 6) I can access from FC6 to Windows without any problem... (and without samba...)
Thanks!

I did not say to start samba.
I said to enable samba (SMB) traffic for the firewall.

Sorry, I have understood badly...
In firewall configuration there is not samba/smb; the are:
WWW (HTTP)
Mail (SMTP)
SSH
Telnet
FTP
but I can't see "samba" or "smb"...
Thanks!

You cannot browse, but you can directly connect to resource.

If you search i-net you will see which port you need to open to enable browsing.

I believe opening ports 137-139 should do it.
