Gateway laptop w/built in wireless

Post by VirtualShaman » 2007/03/10 18:17:47

I am semi-new to linux. I recently acquired a Gateway MT3418 laptop (AMD Turion 64 bit) with built in lan/wireless/modem/sound etc. I have managed to get the wired lan working. I am, however, unable to get the wireless to even be recognized as being installed on the box. I am running Centos 4.4 64 bit. The info i get on the wireless from the Gateway site is:

6008015R - Integrated 802.11/g WLAN (FRU)
GemTek Specifications

Manufacturer Gemtek
Model BCM4318E 11G WMIB-158G21A20 USA
Features BroadRange technology
Form Factor Type IIIB MiniPCI
Host interface 32-bit miniPCI

it also shows:
Manufacturer Lite On
Model WN2300L
Chipset Realtek RTL 8185L
RF Realtek RTL 8225
Standard IEEE802.11b, IEEE802.11g, IEEE802.11i
Bus Interface MiniPCI Card,Type 3 B

Manufacturer Lite On
Model WN2300B
Standard IEEE802.11b, IEEE802.11g, IEEE802.11i
Bus Interface MiniPCI Card,Type 3 B

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
