How do I disable nfs warning "mount version older than kernel"

Post by dnbright » 2007/02/12 16:56:31

When using CentOS with clearcase, I get a separate warning "nfs warning: mount version older than kernel" for each mounted volume. From searching the web and reading other posts, I understand that the warning is benign, but receiving 30 or 40 of these messages in a row is starting to get annoying. Can someone tell me where this message originates so that I can turn it off?

Thanks,
Dan Bright

It looks like you upgraded your kernel without also upgrading nfs-tools.

If you compiled from kernel.org sources, check the Documentation/Changes file
for minimum versions for all support programs.

Thanks for the response.

I haven't upgraded my kernel outside of the normal CentOS yum update process.

I think I have identified my problem, although I haven't attempted to fix it yet. The nfs_mount.h header file in /usr/include/linux contains #defines NFS_MOUNT_VERSION 4, whereas the 2.6.9 kernel contains #define NFS_MOUNT_VERSION 6.

I suspect the package am-utils is picking up the definition from /usr/include/linux.
