IP problem?

Post by redouane » 2007/01/24 11:00:25

hy every body

When i put the IP address manually it works, i've got the internet.
Now since i put it to automatic i 've a proble, i've thisfollowing statement:
let my eth1 in manual mode
[root@pgs ~]# ifup eth1

Determining IP information for eth1...SIOCSIFNETMASK: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCGIFADDR: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCSIFBROADCAST: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: Cannot assign requested address
arping: no source address in not-DAD mode
done.
[root@pgs ~]#

So what's the problem, since all the other PC's are working in DHCP mode not manually?

Did you configure DHCP on ethxx via system-config-network?

Check here too
http://www.centos.org/docs/4/html/rhel-sag-en-4/s1-dhcp-configuring-client.html

Try restarting network service
/etc/init.d/network restart

Edit: what is your network configuration?

Did you put routes manually?
