Help Please Centos hangs on network init

I am very new to this and am having a problem with the Centos 4.4 install
I installed and assigned IPs and now the system hangs after storage init at network init
Can someone tell this newbie what he did wrong please

Hard to guess .... but i had the same problem on centos 4.2 on a bunch of Fujitsu-siemens servers.
I resolved this by updating the bios of the machine and firmware of the card, and by modifying an option in the bios regarding nic initialization ...
