Network Browsing Problem

Just installed from the server cd. I have manually loaded x, gnome, and several other apps. Everything is working great, except that I can't seem to browse my network (Linux or Windows systems). When opening the network browsing tool, the hourglass just stays on. Any ideas? Thanks.
