How to install graphic drivers for Intel GMA x4500 on centos 4?

Post by bondultimate » 2009/12/23 06:51:48

Hi all,

I recently bought a laptop ie. lenovo G450 with Integrated Intel Graphic media accelerator card called X4500 or 4500M.
Installed with CentOS 4 ,but can only see 2 Display options available(800x600 or 850xsmth) The resolution is not much fine (ideal 1280x800 is required). This means My Intel GMA is not working by default and i need a Driver to make it compatible with centos 4.

Can anybody ,Please let me know where to get the driver for Intel x4500 integrated graphic card for linux and most importantly how to install the package?
Already have a lot of googling on this but issue is still unresolved.

Thanks in advance
Farzad

Welcome to the CentOS fora.

Is installing CentOS 5 (currently 5.4) an option? The 4 release is quite dated and you are much more likely to find support for newer graphics and other hardware in the latest release. The following may be of some help.

Also try a search for "GMA 4500" using the "Search" on the bar near the top of the page.
